I ask that we all come together as a community, that we work together to address the threat of gang violence, that I commit as mayor to work with the Police Commission that this matter is fully investigated and we call the facts as we see them.

He said to me that he would continue to work to keep the peace.

You know, I'm like a kid in a candy store right now. I love being mayor of the city that I was born and raised in, that my grandpa came to a hundred years ago. I'm going to be mayor of the city of Los Angeles for the next four years.

Let me be clear -- no one is above the law, ... Not a politician, not a priest, not a criminal, not a police officer. We are all accountable for our actions.

Hispanic Heritage Month gives us a significant opportunity to celebrate the culture and contributions of Hispanics to the city of Los Angeles. I'm so proud to be a part of a city that thrives on its diversity and takes time out to recognize this strength in special ways like this.

I want to thank you all for supporting the Dodgers, [and] for supporting Los Angeles, ... the best fans in the world.
