It's great for those guys and they're taking advantage of it. It's a big head start for them. The WBC has been a big plus for all of us coming out of the organization. We're getting a chance to show what we can do.

Phillips was raised in Demopolis, Alabama, where he played baseball for the Demopolis Academy Generals. Phillips played college baseball for the University of Alabama's former coach, Jim Wells (baseball)/Jim Wells. Phillips was an All-American for the Tide.

If you think about it, he's the perfect New York pitcher. Nothing bothers the guy.
It's a little transition time for me, going from playing every day to figuring out how to stay sharp. The first couple of weeks, you try to figure out what the best scenario is to try to do that. It's been good to find out some different things to stay sharp.
All I can control is what I'm doing here. The expectations that I have on myself far exceed any situation.

I'm going a few weeks without at-bats, but I certainly feel the last few days better with my work and what I've accomplished there. So we'll see.
I looked around at one point and it was almost all guys from the farm system. It was kind of cool to see.
The main KLA elements are cooperating, but we don't know what fringe elements are out there.
