"Andrew Velasquez" is the Region V Administrator for the Federal Emergency Management Agency of the United States, overseeing a six-state region that includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. He was appointed by President Barack Obama on April 16, 2010. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin hailed the nomination.

Prior to this position, Velasquez served as the director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. He was also the executive director of Chicago's Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC). In that role, he has implemented innovative technology solutions such as using wireless and satellite communications to enhance the city’s delivery of emergency services.
