After we lived in Red Oak, we moved to our current property in Midlothian where the same thing occurred. When you get behind the amount keeps building up.

We had moved into the house on a rental agreement and exercised the right to buy the property. I can't tell you the exact date we bought the property, but I was unaware that exemptions were not given the first year of ownership and we got behind on the taxes. Once I got behind, the taxes kept building up. I wasn't fully aware that they (the county) didn't give you any exemption.

They actually owe me a refund now. I overpaid without realizing it. This is all from old taxes, it's not from the last year or so, it's just built up over time. As far as I know everything is clear now.

Sometimes the changes are great, sometimes they're not. I don't know what changes will be made but the northwest area of the county is growing rapidly and I will use my background to make the best changes.
