To date, Kenya lacks an effective livestock marketing policy and it is prudent for the Government to move fast and implement a Livestock Marketing Authority, which was passed in Parliament.

The Government's role is to facilitate the trade and in particular ensure that veterinary certificates, animal screening, treatment and ear tagging are carried out before any importer takes delivery of the animals.

The export trade is bound to expand to include other new importing nations like Egypt and the Middle East.

Let the Government get to the bottom of the matter and leave no stone unturned.
